Olympus OM707
✎ Edit this pageThe Olympus OM707 was an autofocus 35mm SLR camera introduced in 1986, representing Olympus's entry into the growing autofocus market while attempting to maintain the compact OM system philosophy. This camera featured active infrared autofocus technology and program automatic exposure, designed to compete with other manufacturers' autofocus offerings. The OM707 was compatible with a new series of autofocus lenses while also accepting manual-focus Zuiko lenses with adapter rings. Despite incorporating modern autofocus technology, the camera maintained the lightweight design that characterized the OM system. However, the OM707's market reception was limited, as photographers had largely moved to other autofocus systems by this time. The camera represented Olympus's attempt to modernize the OM system, though it ultimately marked a transition period before the company's focus shifted to compact cameras and later digital systems.
