Rollei SL35 E
✎ Edit this pageThe Rollei SL35 E is a 35mm single-lens reflex camera introduced in 1979 as part of Rollei's QBM (Quick Bayonet Mount) system, designed to compete with established Japanese SLR manufacturers. This camera features aperture-priority automatic exposure, manual override capability, and through-the-lens metering with LED indicators in the viewfinder. The SL35 E accepts Rollei's QBM lenses, including excellent Carl Zeiss optics, and offers shutter speeds from 1 second to 1/1000 second plus Bulb mode. Built with German precision and quality materials, it represented Rollei's attempt to establish a foothold in the competitive 35mm SLR market dominated by Japanese manufacturers. While the camera delivered excellent optical quality and solid construction, the QBM system ultimately failed to gain widespread adoption, making these cameras and their exceptional lenses relatively rare today.
