Minolta Autocord

✎ Edit this page

The Minolta Autocord was a twin-lens reflex (TLR) medium format camera series produced from 1955 through the 1960s, designed to compete with the popular Rolleiflex cameras. Using 120 film to produce 6x6cm square format images, the Autocord featured a waist-level viewfinder and a separate taking lens below the viewing lens. Various models included different lens configurations, typically with Rokkor lenses ranging from f/3.5 to f/2.8 maximum apertures. The camera incorporated automatic film advance and offered reliable exposure control through its leaf shutter system. Popular among portrait photographers and those seeking the distinctive medium format look, the Autocord provided an affordable entry into professional-quality medium format photography with excellent build quality and sharp Rokkor optics that competed favorably with German TLR cameras.
