Leica M7
The Leica M7, introduced in 2002, marked Leica's first M-series camera to incorporate aperture-priority automatic exposure while maintaining the classic mechanical rangefinder design philosophy. This 35mm camera featured a sophisticated spot metering system and electronic shutter with speeds from 32 seconds to 1/1000 second, plus mechanical speeds of 1/60 and 1/125 for battery-independent operation. The M7 retained the legendary M-mount bayonet system, precise rangefinder focusing, and exceptional build quality that defined the M-series. With its bright viewfinder displaying 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 90mm, and 135mm framelines, the M7 appealed to photographers seeking modern convenience without abandoning the tactile experience and optical excellence of traditional Leica craftsmanship. It became particularly popular among street photographers and photojournalists.
