Konica Koni-Omega

✎ Edit this page

The Konica Koni-Omega, produced from 1968 to 1978, was a professional medium format rangefinder camera system designed primarily for press and commercial photography. This modular 6x7cm camera featured interchangeable lenses, viewfinders, and film backs, making it highly versatile for various photographic applications. The Koni-Omega utilized a unique leaf shutter system built into each lens, providing sync speeds up to 1/500 second for flash photography. With its bright coupled rangefinder, reliable mechanical construction, and excellent Hexanon lenses ranging from 58mm to 180mm, the system became popular among wedding photographers, photojournalists, and portrait studios. The camera's relatively compact size for a medium format system and its quiet operation made it an attractive alternative to bulkier SLR systems.
