Konica Auto S3
✎ Edit this pageThe Konica Auto S3, introduced in 1973, was an advanced 35mm rangefinder camera that combined traditional mechanical reliability with modern electronic automation. Featuring aperture-priority automatic exposure controlled by a sophisticated CdS meter system, the Auto S3 allowed photographers to set their desired aperture while the camera selected the appropriate shutter speed. The camera was equipped with Konica's excellent 38mm f/1.8 Hexanon lens, known for its sharp optics and beautiful rendering. With its bright rangefinder focusing system, electronic shutter speeds from 1/8 to 1/1000 second, and compact form factor, the Auto S3 became popular among street photographers and photojournalists who valued its quiet operation and reliable automatic exposure in changing light conditions.
