Kodak Retina IIIs
✎ Edit this pageThe Kodak Retina IIIs, manufactured in Germany from 1958 to 1960, represented the pinnacle of Kodak's 35mm folding camera series. This sophisticated rangefinder featured a coupled selenium light meter, making it one of the first cameras to offer truly convenient built-in exposure metering. The IIIs boasted a high-quality Schneider Xenon 50mm f/1.9 lens and a Synchro-Compur leaf shutter with speeds from 1 second to 1/500 second. Its innovative folding design made it remarkably compact when closed, while the bright rangefinder viewfinder provided accurate focusing. The interchangeable front lens elements allowed for wide-angle and telephoto photography, making this camera a favorite among travel photographers and photojournalists of the late 1950s.
