Canon FX

The Canon FX is a mechanical 35mm SLR camera introduced in 1964, representing Canon's early entry into the SLR market with the newly developed Canon FL lens mount. This camera features a pentaprism viewfinder with ground glass focusing screen and offers manual exposure control with external light meter compatibility. The FX accepts Canon FL lenses and provides shutter speeds from 1 second to 1/1000s plus bulb mode. Notable for its solid mechanical construction and reliability, it includes mirror lock-up for vibration-free photography and self-timer functionality. Targeted at serious amateur photographers transitioning from rangefinders to SLRs, the FX established Canon's foundation in SLR camera design and introduced the FL mount that would evolve into the successful FD system.
